Medical Director / Lead Volunteer Provider

Time Commitment: 1–2 days/week | 4–6 hours per shift

Location: Hybrid – Working from home and in the field at various unhoused encampments throughout Southern Alameda County (Hayward, Union City, Fremont, Newark) and Santa Clara County.

Overview

The East Bay Community Care Network (EBCCN) is seeking a dedicated Medical Director or Lead Volunteer Provider to help oversee, support, and lead a team of interdisciplinary volunteer health professionals. This is currently a volunteer role with potential for paid opportunities in the future as EBCCN secures state, federal, or philanthropic funding.

The Medical Director role blends hands-on clinical work with leadership and oversight, ensuring the delivery of integrated, trauma-informed, and harm reduction-based care to some of the East Bay’s most underserved populations.

Volunteer Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership and clinical supervision for all EBCCN medical and behavioral health volunteers

2. Assist with the development of clinical protocols, field safety, and best practices

3. Mentor new volunteers and assist with onboarding

4. Support complex case reviews and interdisciplinary care planning

5. Deliver direct clinical services aligned with your licensure and area of expertise

6. Maintain adherence to scope-of-practice, HIPAA, and EBCCN’s values of equity and compassion

Qualifications

1. Current, unrestricted California license (MD, DO, NP, or PMHNP)

2. DEA registration (if applicable)

3. At least 3 years of experience; leadership background preferred

4. Commitment to trauma-informed, equity-centered care

5. Experience with field-based or community-centered medicine is a plus

Volunteer OB/GYN or Reproductive Health Provider (MD/DO/NP)

Overview

East Bay Community Care Network (EBCCN) is seeking volunteer OB/GYN and reproductive health providers (MD, DO, NP) to offer compassionate, affirming care to individuals with limited access to reproductive services. Providers will deliver trauma-informed, gender-inclusive reproductive health services through mobile clinics and community-based outreach, including STI screenings, family planning, prenatal/postnatal counseling, and wellness education. This role supports reproductive justice by addressing systemic health disparities and empowering individuals to make informed choices about their bodies and health.

This is a volunteer position with the potential for future paid opportunities as funding becomes available.

Responsibilities

1.    Offer reproductive health exams, STI screening, and family planning counseling

2.    Provide prenatal/postnatal support and connect clients to follow-up services

3.    Support reproductive justice through inclusive, affirming care

4.    Educate clients on birth control, menstruation, and overall reproductive wellness

Qualifications

1.    Licensed MD, DO, or NP in California

2.    Experience with gender-affirming, trauma-informed reproductive care preferred

Overview

EBCCN is looking for skilled emergency and urgent care providers (MD, DO, NP) to volunteer in delivering timely, field-based medical care to unhoused and underserved populations. Providers will address acute needs such as wound care, infections, triage, and overdose response as part of a mobile, harm-reduction-centered model of care. This role is ideal for adaptable, equity-driven clinicians eager to practice in resource-limited environments and make a tangible difference through direct community engagement.

Volunteer now, with the potential for paid roles as grant and public health funding expands.

Responsibilities

1.     Provide basic urgent/emergency care (wound care, infections, stabilization)

2. Conduct medical triage and determine when higher levels of care are needed

3. Support field-based interventions (e.g., overdose response, wound treatment)

4. Work with harm reduction and case management teams to provide holistic care

Overview

East Bay Community Care Network (EBCCN) is seeking compassionate and mission-driven volunteer psychiatric providers (MD, DO, or PMHNP) to join our growing, interdisciplinary team. Volunteers will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed psychiatric care to individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability across Southern Alameda County and Santa Clara County.

This is a hybrid role, blending telehealth flexibility with occasional field-based outreach at encampments, shelters, or mobile clinics. Psychiatric providers play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex mental health and co-occurring substance use needs, using a harm-reduction, person-centered approach. Providers will collaborate with case managers, social workers, peer advocates, and other healthcare professionals to promote stability, healing, and dignity in care.

This is a volunteer (unpaid) position. However, as EBCCN secures additional funding through grants or public partnerships, paid opportunities may become available.

Volunteer Responsibilities

1. Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management

Overview

EBCCN is inviting licensed mental health professionals (LCSW, LMFT, PsyD, LPCC) to volunteer their expertise in supporting individuals facing trauma, grief, anxiety, and co-occurring conditions. Volunteers will provide brief therapy, crisis de-escalation, and linkage to ongoing care in field-based or mobile clinic settings. This role is critical in delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive care to unhoused and marginalized populations and contributes to an interdisciplinary care model rooted in equity and healing.

This is a volunteer role with future potential for paid engagement as funding allows.

Responsibilities

Overview

East Bay Community Care Network (EBCCN) is seeking compassionate and mission-driven Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to volunteer alongside our interdisciplinary street medicine and behavioral health teams. Volunteers will provide field-based nursing support, medical triage, health education, and basic clinical care to unhoused and underserved populations in Southern Alameda and Santa Clara Counties.

This role offers a unique opportunity to practice community-centered care rooted in harm reduction, trauma-informed principles, and health equity. Nurses are vital to supporting holistic care delivery in mobile and outreach settings. This is a volunteer position with potential for paid opportunities as EBCCN secures state, federal, or philanthropic funding.

Responsibilities

1.    Provide nursing support during mobile health outreach, encampment visits, and community pop-up clinics

2.    Conduct basic health assessments, triage, and vital sign monitoring

3.    Assist with wound care, medication support, and chronic disease management

4.    Offer health education and referrals to primary care, specialty services, and social supports

5.    Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and providers to ensure client-centered continuity of care

6.    Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation in accordance with EBCCN protocols

The Director of Marketing & Outreach helps tell EBCCN’s story to the public, build visibility, and grow community engagement. This person leads outreach strategy, supports event promotion, and manages internal and external communications using Microsoft tools.

Responsibilities

1. Design and manage outreach campaigns, flyers, and media

2. Maintain and grow EBCCN’s social media presence

3. Use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, and Canva to coordinate efforts

4. Represent EBCCN at events and community meetings

5. Collaborate with volunteers and staff to share impact stories

1. Comfortable with email, social media, or basic graphic tools

2. Schedule shifts and track hours in Outlook and Excel

3. Host welcome calls, team meetings, and appreciation activities

4. Maintain simple volunteer records on SharePoint

5. Help promote a positive and inclusive volunteer culture

This role supports the structure, quality, and coordination of EBCCN’s case management programs. The director helps coach team leads, improve systems, and ensure smooth, ethical care for clients.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise case managers and assist with care planning

2. Create documentation and workflows using Word, Teams, and Excel

3. Lead weekly team check-ins and trainings

4. Support program development, reporting, and volunteer retention

1. Experience in case management or social services is helpful
